Tampa Fishing Charters
Apollo Beach and the south shore of Tampa Bay are home to endless fishing opportunities. With our mild climate, we are able to fish Tampa Bay and it’s tributaries year round. The Apollo Beach area hosts some of the best snook fishing in the entire state of Florida. It’s not uncommon to catch 50 or more fish on spring and summer fishing charters. Most of our Tampa fishing charters take place on the flats in shallow water. The water is usually calm and clear so seasickness isn’t an issue. On the flats of Tampa Bay, we catch snook, redfish, trout, jacks and more. While on a Tampa fishing charter with Capt Mike Murphy, you can also expect to see stingrays, dolphins, manatees and other aquatic life. See the latest Tampa Bay Fishing Charters Report.
Apollo Beach Fishing For Snook
Snook are one of the top species we target on Apollo Beach fishing charters. These great gamefish flourish in the Tampa Bay area. The south shore of Tampa Bay in particular has such great snook fishing due to variety of habitats. We have miles of mangrove shoreline that offer protection and an endless food supply for snook. We also have 3 major rivers that empty into the south shore. Area rivers remain warmer in the winter and give snook a refuge during cold snaps. Snook love structure so our area canals and residential areas are the perfect place to target snook in the Apollo Beach area.
Fishing Apollo Beach For Redfish
Redfish are another flats dwelling species we like to catch in Tampa Bay. Redfish are incredibly strong and fight until the very end. Our area mangroves are great places to target redfish especially on high tides. Redfish will get under the bushes for protection and to get out of the mid day sun. Redfish feed primarily by smell so cut bait offerings tend to work well. The average redfish we catch on Apollo Beach fishing charters is in the 7 – 12 lb range so keeping them out of the bushes can be a real challenge, not to mention pretty exciting.
Trout Fishing In Apollo Beach
Speckled trout also thrive in the waters of Tampa Bay. Our area grass flats provide the perfect habitat for this beautiful game fish. Trout are targeted while drifting over grassy areas or staked out over white sand spots known as potholes. In the Apollo Beach area trout average in the 13 – 17 inch range but with fish over 20 inches not uncommon. Trout are plentiful and fairly easy to catch so they are great for kids and adults alike. If having fun and catching lots of fish is what you are looking for, trout fishing will be right up your alley.
Tampa Fishing Charters
We are blessed in Tampa Bay to have so many different species to fish for. On the flats we catch trout, redfish, snook, tarpon and much more. Seasonally we also catch pompano, flounder, ladyfish, cobia and jack crevalle. These fish are all great sport and will give you a run for your money on light tackle.
When we are fishing the Apollo Beach area for nearshore species, we catch mangrove snapper, grouper, spanish mackeral, cobia, sheepshead, grunts and sometimes even sharks. Tampa Bay is loaded with rock piles that attract all kinds of different species throughout the year. You never know what might show up out there.
